I just feel like he was just there a lot of the time to get his ass kicked to simply make Blade and Chalice look better. He had moments of coolness/potential, like his first couple of arcs, but after that he was just there... I get your point better now, personally I felt that Tachibana role was well defined and fulfilling but I get your point.
