It kinda annoys me that R rated films can do fantastically, but due to their very nature not being mass market, they pretty much get written off as a failure as no one seems to think about their specific context.

You have about three generations complaining about how watered down and kid friendly our media has become, and yet they continue to churn out these 12a cash ins, because a 12a means they have four whole extra sets of audiences to drain profit from.
