Octomus was a thing from episode one. Every single villain was quite plainly serving him and trying to revive him, even having conversations with him from very early on and you saw his sealed eye form nearly every episode. It didn't come out of nowhere at all, they were always leading up to his revival.

But I prefer a final confrontation with something then what we got in MMPR and Zeo, in which they never had a real final battle with Rita, Zedd or Mondo. Even Master Vile and Serpentera just left without a big finale... It left me feeling like something was lacking.

Anyway, I really enjoyed Mystic Force up until the last arc. It was weird that they decided to try and put in the whole "magic family" theme of Magiranger right near the end (but only for three characters) and it just didn't work and meant that every scene was just "Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick" up until the very ending because everyone except him and his parents became pretty much irrelevant.
