Well that was certainly a lot of fun, but I don't feel I got enough from that episode to really make an opinion. It sorta felt like loads of Rider shows smashed together, which is a difficult thing to pull off well, but I think the show managed it with one of the rare times a toku budget and the creators ambitions seem to have met in the middle. Although that DJ was ridiculously annoying.

That doesn't mean though, that I am entirely convinced. The opening episode is a crucial one, it needs to hook an audience and make them come back, so riding tried and tested ideas and wrapping it up in a glossy package functioned perfectly in this context. But I just hope in twenty episodes down the line, where the show needs to provide something deeper than just surface flash and thrills, it will have found its feet and some unique ideas of its own, which aren't just toy focused.
