I still think S1 is the best as it had a perfect balance of stand alone episodes and plot episodes. Yes, but after they spent about five episodes establishing that Barago was behind everything, right before the last episode he just died and was replaced by someone who he was apparently serving all along, but they're only just telling us this now. Sure he came back at the very end, but that only served to further highlight how poorly paced the ending was, and how meaningless Messiah was to the audience despite her importance in the shows universe. That isn't even mentioning the Watchdogs and Echo who were evil because....

I think the second season is a true sequel, improving on every weakness the original season had. I will admit I much preferred season ones standalone episodes, but that is because I'm a horror nut and the second seasons standalone episodes were just sort of special effectsfests.

I had a long list of problems with the original season of GARO, despite enjoying it immensely while the second season, really my only criticism of that is Red Mask, who is ridiculous, but I'm only half way through and I still know barely a thing about him, so that could change.
