Thats what I think the scene with his sister in episode 3 tried to show us (even though it was very vague and poorly executed). Eventhough he has this great power and can benefit from it the only one he is helping with it is himself. Something in the vein of the classic "with great power comes great responsibility" line from Spider-Man.

The question being, does he need to go through an "Uncle Ben" to understand the responsibility he's carrying?
