I didn't come across this problem. I didn't start watching Rider and Sentai shows until college. And no one seems to notice or care when I watch it there. Very rarely someone will recognize it and sometimes will also be a fan. College is a lot more free. People judge you less. Or if they do, they keep quiet about it.

High schoolers can be harsh I think. Don't let it get to you. Like what you like. People recognize passion. In high school I was pretty nerdy and I was pretty recognized for it. I actually got people to call me Pokémon Master. Hence the username.

It'll vary depend on the area and demographic of your school I think. Opinions tend to vary quite a bit. Are there not any nerd cliques in your school? Or do you not have other strong interests? If people are having harsher reactions, it may be better to ease into it.
