Pink and Yellow would've still been arms. With their fronts folding up to become shoulders, and the hands coming out of the back of the train. And because of the design would've had proper elbow joints. Inexcusable with all that room in those damn things that it doesn't have them now. Lazy.
And still could keep the gimmick about different trains becoming different hand weapons.

Your design is very Transformers, and most Transformers combiners don't even think that far. Did you think Bandai would have gone to such an extent?

Besides, it would cause lots of gaps in the train modes, and ruin the rainbow look they were going for. Acceptable sacrifices, perhaps, but likely not to Bandai who is trying to appeal to train collectors too.
