As in I just look for movesets that sound good and Tiers are usually an afterthought!

I mix-and-match not only tiers (like 2 Rarelyused, an Overused, a Little Cup and 2 Ubers and going after Neverused Teir) but Gen Metagames. My Magiranger Vaporeon will either be set up the Sinnoh metagame or just mixing up EV spreads and movesets based on whatever sounds the most powerful.

Surf, Toxic, Ice Beam and Hidden Power Fire sound promising.

Plus I'm too lazy to think about EV spreads or movepools on my own with out going "Flamethrower, Overheat, Fire Blast, Inferno Full Offensive like an eight year old playing for the first time."
