It wasn't explicitly explained, but does EVERYTHING need to be? Kids can probably work out that form with claws = better for fighting.

Well no. But considering Burajira's body changing was a central part of his character in Goseiger, they could have done more with it in Megaforce than 'just cause'. Especially considering how much of Megaforce was just a straight adaptation.
