Especially when Locke isn't here to defend himself. That's pretty unfair to lambast him when he's not even been in the thread for ages.

Anyway, on-topic: I don't see how Hase could have been under-developed when it's clear he served his purpose in spades. He wasn't meant to be a main character or this super multi-sided personality. He was just meant to be a believable character, so we would understand the gravity of the events that transpired. He was a glorified of-the-week character given more time in advance to settle in as a "constant" rather than the sometimes eye-rollingly casual civilian deaths of older series. He was more than effective at his role, and I don't see how that could be a problem. Remember we're only 14 episodes in, just over a quater. Don't expect this to be the apex of the shock wave.
