While I cannot speak for FedEx, this just happened to me this week with UPS. For some reason, my package from Amazon arrived in CO and then was missorted and sent to SD. -_- I have no idea how that happened, but the worst part was UPS decided to then ship it back to CO using standard ground. Maybe something like that happened with your package.
