I wonder if that had something to do with the serial-nature and cohesiveness of the overall story/arcs? To me, it felt like the plot just kept moving forward, and there weren't really any of those little random plot things left open (except maybe the fact that the candy and aigerron things were explained rather weakly -- meaning her true power and aigerron's rage).
