I'll take many riders over 1 or 2 most any day for a couple of reasons.

In terms of story, it helps to break the formula I'm freaking sick of. Figuring out what to do with the extra super powered characters gives more variety to the story and the writers have more freedom to do something different. It's not impossible to do that with only 1 or 2 riders, it's just makes things easier to do with a handful of rider.

In terms of marketing, the entire toy line isn't one guy in different outfits. This also helps limits the main characters from being to overpowered since they don't have to sell as many toys of that main character. It also allows for some antagonists and villains to get toys, something every good toy line needs.


PS And for the record, I love Kuuga, it's my second favorite series (pending Gaim's final placement). Of course I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish Ichijo became a rider at some point, so even then I want more Riders.
