We're again firing up the Toku Time Machine to bring you a gallery of the 8 inch 'Armored Defender' Angus from Bandai of America's 1998 Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog toy line.

Everything that the 5 inch Mystic Knights do the 8 inch figures do better. Angus features 21 points of articulation, has 18 pieces of removable armor, and comes with the Terra Sling Mace, another sling, a war hammer, a Dragon's Breath Dagger, dagger sheath, and a shield. Unlike the 5 inch version, this larger Angus' shield cannot clip into the DX Pyre's chest.

Angus is the Mystic Knight of Earth and the designer's managed to accurately capture all of the 'earthy' elements of the on-screen armor in this sculpt. It feels like every inch of the figure is packed with detail, from the helmet's crest all the way down to the boots.

Despite the 'gimmick' of this figure being the removable armor, all of the pieces stay on rather well. The side skirts are on a hinge that allow for outward leg movement but unfortunately, forward and backward movement is restricted at the hip due to the front and back skirt pieces. The bicep armor pieces do not restrict elbow movement.

The 8inch Armored Defender line of Mystic Knights is fantastic and it's rather disappointing that only 3 out of the 5 Knights were made in this scale. Everything about the figures are top notch, from the sculpt and paint detail to the accessory count.

If you're able to find any of these 8inch figures complete and at a reasonable price, I strongly recommend them for any fan of Mystic Knights or American Tokusatsu in general.
