Agito Episode 1
Let me guess, this kid just unlocked the door for all sorts of bad monsters and stuff to come onto the human world?
Are the robot sounds needed for when he's moving his arms? The helmet I can sort of understand, but other movements using that sound effect seem rather cliche to me. He isn't a robot, he's just a man in a heavily armored suit. There is no need for that sound.
Also is that really all the training for the day? Just catch a ball and shoot some down? It seems like there should have been a bit more to it. Like him trying to avoid the balls as they are shot at him in a rapid fashion, or trying to shoot down the balls in multiple directions while they're being shot at him (i.e. one coming from the front, one to the side, etc). Overall it seems like a pretty easy training session which should have had more to it.
Not quite sure how you can tell that it is something ancient or not. But I digress. I will say though that it is smart of them to just hook it up to a computer to try and figure out the combination. It reminds me of what they did in Beetleborgs to get Flubber out of the organ for the second time after Wolfie put him back in there. It makes sense since it would take who knows how long to crack the code by human hand, which could result in utilizing a lot of workers which would equal having to use a lot of money. So this...company for lack of a better term (not really sure what else to call them for now) is acting quite smart here.
Did that man have his limbs stuffed into different parts of the tree? Youch.
Tendou he is not I assume?
Not sure who this Mana girl is (I already know Shouchi is Agito since I've seen the OP video and henshin videos before), but scene here with Shouchi is fairly nice. Taking in the fact that Shouchi has amnesia (ever explained?), I do wonder if she knew him before he lost his memory or after he lost his memory. Regardless they seem fairly close judging by how they conversed. Not sure what to expect from them in terms of relationship, but it was a pretty nice scene, it once again having a very J-Drama feel to it which if you read any of my 555 reviews, you know I'm a sucker for Rider doing scenes like that.
Nearly died, has miraculously gotten stronger...either Ryou is going to end up being a rider, or he's an Orphenoch like creature. Either way he has the right idea, the feeling of water is really relaxing.
Okay I'm usually pretty good at figuring out the odd little customs in these shows from studying Japanese culture. But I'm lost after that scene. What exactly was that stick with the noose for?
Oh my God what the hell was with that noise!? I have my sound set to how it usually is for watching rider (Youtube volume at max, laptop volume at 60) and noises aren't that loud. But that was freaking loud as hell. Whining noises like that surprisingly irritate me, I say surprisingly because I'm a fan of industrial bands like Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, KMFDM, Rammstein, and Merzbow. But damn was that just irritatingly loud. And how could a monster attack not only emit a noise like that, but have it carry out who knows how far out to where it effects Shouchi and Ryou? I'd ask why just them, but I know Shouchi will become Agito and I'm assuming at this point Ryou is Gills.
Oh and what's with this monster and stuffing people into trees?
Dude she just found her husband dead. Pretty sure she isn't going to be all that talkative for a while.
And we're meeting late at night because...I don't know. I was told I had to play a victim of sorts so I guess we're meeting at night so I'll be extra vulnerable.
GODDAMMIT NOT THIS NOISE AGAIN!
Man this monster must really have a grudge against that family to take out every member of it. Speaking of the monster, it's not that great looking to me. Just a human sized leopard (at least I think it's suppose to be a leopard). Plus what's with that ring of light over it's head when it's attacking somebody?
Now this is how a military/special ops like rider force should operate. Quick to deploy, equip, and move out on the mission. Zect and Smart Brain could take a few notes from SAUL.
The henshin or equipping was pretty good and fits how a rider like G3 would turn into a rider. It's a little weird at first seeing the rider have the armor put on him by the help of somebody else, but considering this is a military force it does make sense. The suit isn't too bad either, though out of all the G3s it isn't my favorite (he'll pop up eventually). It has a real metal hero style to it, which is honestly why I like it and the other G3s so much as far as suits go.
Probably not the best idea though to have it run on battery power.
"I would, but I'm kinda getting my ass handed to me at the moment and I don't see an opportunity to escape."
Hey look, the show's namesake showed up.
The Agito suit...is not one of my favorite. I haven't liked it since I first saw the design when I was becoming a fan of the show (ironic considering I won an Agito figure), and while I've grown to like it a little bit, it still isn't that great looking to me. I think the back of the chest armor should have just been gold instead of black. It makes it look like part of the suit under the armor which gives off the illusion that the gold piece is just hanging on by a string. I'm not too big on the black shoulder pads either, but I'm a bit more forgiving of those since they have silver all around the edge of them too break up all of the black. I don't really like the head crest either. Well when it's normal I don't like it. When it's all flailed out it looks pretty cool. So yeah overall, not the biggest fan of the suit.
So are all of the monsters in this show going to be cats?
Well this is Agito huh? I haven't been too big on watching it for quite a while now due to not really enjoying the Agito suit, as well as the OP video. I only now decided to watch it due to warming up to the non G3 suits and hearing how it's like Faiz but not as technology based. After watching the first episode I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I dug it.
There really isn't any story setup here to be frank. We kinda have a tease of it by what SAUL is said to do, but it's just a tease. The episode is devoid of introducing the story of the show. It kinda has an in episode story with the case of the bodies in the trees, but it's not focused on all that much due to having to introduce the characters.
How are those characters? They're alright from what I saw. I'm already liking Hikawa as he seems like a pretty good guy who when it comes to his job won't take BS from anybody. I like his assistants, especially the girl. Shouchi comes off as a goofball, and since that's the only side we saw of him in the episode, it makes me assume that's how he is for the whole show. This isn't a bad thing per say, I love Shinji who is goofy, and there's a goofiness to Shotaro, Philip, and even Takumi. But Shouchi for now comes off like a complete and utter goofball, with no seriousness to him. As for Ryou, he was there. That's it. The rest of the characters were alright I guess. I don't find myself disliking any of them or thinking they are bad characters.
As for action, it was decent for how much we got, which was barely any. Hikawa pretty much got squashed quickly, and once Shouchi showed up it became a full on squash. So right now I'm not impressed with the action. It doesn't come close to how good the combat in Kabuto and 555 have.
So in the end, even though it was lacking in quite a few aspect, I actually got into the episode. It reminded me of Kuuga, but not as serialized as Kuuga is. I was entertained, never felt bored, and while it lacked a true story, the episode moved along pretty well for a first episode. It isn't the best one I've seen, but it's way better then Blade's first episode. Will I keep watching Agito? I'll watch up to five and then decide. But so far I'm enjoying it.
