Well yes, Sid didn't accomplish much and wasn't much of a threat, his presence in Gaim is just like having a bully and an obstacle for Kouta. and that's why he was offed so callously, he wasn't important at all. but that's also part of his character, or at least to me.
He served his purpose early on, and I wouldn't say removing him completely would make the show any better.
