Chapter 1 Part 5: Awaken, Nightmare King!

It's not everyday that a giant octopus attacks on land, even more so with a cyborg varrent.Still, this was what is happening at time moment and Grant STILL can't believe a Sentai feel right in his lap and is now fighting to protect their new world from the terror that enslaved the home they once knew.

Blasie/Nightmare Red flew over Octocrush and dropped a few bombs from his bomber jet, NightBat.Apart from denting the faceplate that is over the left side of his face, Octocrush was otherwise unharmed."Surely that craft can do more than that!" he snarled at him.

"As a matter of fact it can do a lot more than you'd like, Octocrush." Nighmare Red firmly said. Soon lasers were firing from the nosecone on Octocrush and singed his hide. Then two cables were launched from the wings and latched onto him."Wha-wha what's going on?" he sputtered before they activated and began draining his energy. But Nightmare Red was tired from his escape. They all were and now wasn't the time to deal with Overshadow's executioner. But they had a job to do and for Red, Green, Pink and Blue it was also a matter of justice.

But Octocrush wasn't going down without a fight. After shaking off the cables he struck the Nightbat and caused it to wobber in the air, forcing Red to land it before he crashed.He had to fight to avoid throwing up in his helmet. But now he had to wait until it can fly again.

Melia was next with her HoverToad. Launching homing missiles at her enemy, she also tried to sideswipe the octopus as well.But Octocrush kicked it over and it spanned around in the air before landing pontoon side up on the streets. But the attack was meant to distract him while the missiles stuck true. Octocrush howled in pain as Blasies radioed Melia to see if she was alright."Melia, are you Ok? That was quite a stunt you pulled back there"

"I always was a risktaker, Y'know. But that wasn't how I wanted to take it for a spin"she laughed. Even when in the thick of battle she was as cheerful as can be.

Alasdair jumped off a energy wave made by the SeaStallion and use the underside of the boat to strike Octocrush in the face. As Octocrush held the speedboat in his clutches and began to try and crush it heat seeking mines were deployed from it and blasted at his two tentacles that were holding him up, knocking him down and freeing the SeaStallion."You were always too grabby for your own damn good" Nightmare Yellow snapped.

Gregory and the Howling Race were next, with Aiko and the StrikerHawk running air support. Homing lasers were fired from guns placed by the cockpit of Howling Racer as StrikerHawk powered up a firey aura and slammed into Octocrush before the laser struck home, knocking him down again.

"Nice moves Aiko-san! I take it you didn't want him holding you too tighly, right?" Gregory joked, knowing full well that was her intent all along.

"He's neither rich nor compassionate. I like my men to be both." Nightmare Pink told Blue."I'm not fond of playing too roughly and Octocrush was always a pathetic toady" Nightmare Green did a sad puppy expression, knowing that Pink meant no offense to her. She only did so as a joke. Aiko laughed at Melia's joking reaction to what she had said.

"AWWW, this is taking forever!" Nighmare Blue moaned."We need to combine the Monsterrors now or we'll just stalemate with him"

"But we never had full training with these vehicles, remember?" Red told him worriedly."We don't fully know how the combined form works"

"There's no nothin' like on-site learnin'!" Melia said."I really want to see how the robots looks"

"For once I'm with you Melia. But don't make it a habit of trying to seek my favor"Yellow droned. Green pouted at his helmeted picture on the viewscreen.
"Do not worry about what he says" Aiko comforted her."He is unwilling to let joy and happiness into his heart" Yellow just shock his head at this.

"Alright! Let's form Nightmare King!" Red and Blue shouted. With that command all five Nighmarangers grabbed their Heart Keys and used them to unlock an overhead compartment. Inside was a single button that was in their respective colors. After it was pushed the screens flashed"Nightmare King Protocol Initiated"

The NightBat and StrikerHawk extended so that elbow joints were seen in between the fronts and the engines. The engines then went down to form shoulder joints and the wings went up 90 degrees and half of them folded into outer shoulder armor. The cockpits lifted up and the nosecoses flipped over to revel robotic hands as the cockpits went back into place.

The bows of the Hovertoad and the Seastallion split in half to form feet and ankles. The fan of the Hovertoad and the propulsion systems of the SeaStallion went over the rears of their respective crafts, forming shin guards and reveling ports to connect Howling Racer.

The front and bottom metal rocker moldings of Howling Racer flipped over and around to form a jumper pack. Then the spoiler split in half and each half went forward. The rear of Howling Racer flipped around and folded in to form the upper legs with ports sticking out so they can connect to Green and Yellow's Monsterrors. Two panels spun around to show holes that NightBat and StrikerHawk can dock into. As the vehicles were combining the front of Howling Racer's cockpit opened up to revel a red head that had its covered in black bat wings. But soon the wing flared open and the face was showed, with golden eyes and a blue jewel at the forehead. When the sequence was completed the robot flipped over and stood up in the air, its arm raised like a bird's wings.

"Nightmare King, Arise!"

Octocrush was unimpressed. In fact he laughed at Nightmare King. But that didn't detere them at all. Soon NightMare King was on the move.

Octocrush was the first to strike, bashing NK with a tentacle. But NK was able to roll away before Octocrush could follow up with another attack.As soon as it stood up it leapt into the air and did a double jumping face right in Octocrush's face. NK then performed a one-two punch combo that stuned the octopus monster followed by a double hand uppercut that sent him flying down hard into the streets. The impact woke him up from his stutter as he grabbed NK and started to crush it.

Meanwhile in the Nightmare King cockpit in its head the Nightmarangers were stuggling to break free."Do we have any opinions to shake free?" Red asked."Nothing is working at 100 efficiency. We're in the red on life support! If we don't do something we're doomed!" Blue bemoaned.

"Do not lose hope yet my friends. The means for our salvation are within our grasp" Pink told them."It's time to cue the sword and..and..Ugh, I can't think of a clever rhyme right now!"Green grumbled.

"Summoning the Dream Slasher"Yellow said. A sword with a black handle, golden trim and handle and a red jewel shaped like a jack o-lantern face that can be seen from both sides fell into the hand that was part of NightBat. With one swing the tentacles that held onto NK were servered, leaving Octocrush without his most powerful attack. But he was far from helpless. Soon he was spitting ink bombs at NK, who was able to defect most of them back at him. One however struck it straight in the face, leaving the Nightmaranger without a means to see the enemy.It soon fell over as Octocrush prepared to finish them off. But by the time he was close enough, they were able to wipe the ink off with NK's free StrikerHawk hand and slashed at his face, leaving a gash over his eyes.

"Now guys, while he's stunned!"Red ordered.

"Crimson Downfall!!"

Dark red energy cover the blade and then Nightmare King performed a rolling slash, hitting Octocrush at the downswing.

"Ahhh..Ah..You were lucky this day, 'heroes'. But one day your time will run out and you shall all payyyyyyyyy......." As Octocrush breathed his last he blew up as Sentai monsters are known to do.

"Yeah, we did it you guys!" Red cheered. Blue and Pink gave nods of approval while Green gave him a big hug.

"That's all well and good, but there's still the matter of paying Garrenson back for the damages we caused"Yellow stated nonchalantly. The mood soon turned uneasy. How were they going to fix the brownstone?

Next time: The conclusion of Chapter 1! The Nighmaranger must find jobs so they can fix things!
