[Sentai Tamashii]

Once again Bandai has released a renewal version of yet another Ultraman, this time it is Imit-Ultraman. The original incarnation of the toy was also a Tamashii Web exclusive item.

Imitation Ultraman first appeared in episode 17 of the classic original Ultraman TV series. Episode title "Brother From Another World". Strictly speaking not an Ultra by nature, Imitation Ultraman is actually a disguise worn by the evil alien Zarab who wishes to conquer the Earth. The basic premise being that he would imitate Ultraman by looking almost exactly like him and commit acts of evil. This would convince the various government organizations to see him as a public enemy.

In a battle near the end of the episode Ultraman is able to defeat the imitator to reveal it was indeed Alien Zarab in disguise all along. The character would later appear again in Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster battle: Never Ending Odyssey to fight the ZAP Spacy team and Gomora only to be defeated and return soon after in the Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy movie. This time however Imitation Ultraman would meet his match. In a bid to free the dark ultra Belial, he stole the legendary Battlenizer and broke the Land of Lights Space Prison. Belial then betrays Zarab, killing him, and ending the legacy of the Imitation Ultraman.

Imitation Ultraman can perform his own version of Ultramans trademark Specium Ray attack, though an effect part for that attack is NOT included with this version of the figure. In fact the figure includes only a single effect part. Also included is a rope with an SSSP agent hanging from it to simulate Imitation Ultraman's rampage.

Though this figure is an improved version of the original toy, it doesn't include the same accessories so if you have the original, you may want to keep it around for those parts if nothing else.
