[Blade Raider]

We all know that toku is full for product placement. Yeah, they are trying to sell toys. Yeah, they always make sure you can see the emblems on bikes and clothes. Just got to live with it sometimes. However, sometimes the placement is clever or just plain funny.

We'd go blue in the face trying to find all the product placement in Kamen Rider, so let's limit this thread to just the stand out ones that are clever, funny, interesting, or otherwise entertaining. Pictures are cool in this thread, but not required.

Also, I think it goes without saying that spoilers should be kept to a minimum if possible. Please use spoiler tags or otherwise warn people spoilers are ahead.

Let's get started.


I found two rather entaining pieces of product placement in the middle of Kamen Rider Kuuga. The first one is in episode 19. In the middle of the episode, Godai's sister, Minori, is watching a kindergartener that was not picked up from school. The two are watching tv:



Please note the time. The time is always given at the first of every scene in the show. It's a silent scene that only has the TV's sound playing and something familiar seems to be playing...



OMG! We're going Shinzo! The show known as Mushrambo in Japan is playing on the TV. For those not familiar, it's Journey to the West in a post apocalyptic setting where only one human is left to find Shinzo. It has bright colors, some strange card gimmick (sorta like SPD's card prison things), and some transformations. It has it's moments of awesome.

Anyways, Mushrambo is owned by Toei. Now I couldn't find the time slot that Mushrambo aired at, but I'd bet it was 7 PM. I did find out that Mushrambo was still airing new episodes at this time though. In fact, it started only a week after Kuuga. I'm pretty sure it was having low ratings at the time too so this was clearly intended to help.




The second notable product placement I found was in episode 24. The episode started out slow (like most Kuuga episodes) and Godai is checking in on friends after the last events. The scene starts with Godai entering the university research lab that Sawatari works out of. Sawatari is deep in thought at the table (there's a bag on the table, but it's hard to see). As they talk, Godai sits at table and the camera angle changes...



Oh boy, here we go. At this point, they wastes about a minute of the show to advertise McDonalds. And I don't mean just having the bag there, oh no. They stop, talk about how Sawatari isn't hungry and how the burger is cold. And then Godai eats it...



...followed by "Yum Yum Yum Yum" and "It's good even though it's cold" (or at least that's what the subtitles said). That's right kids, Kamen Rider Kuuga loves the Big Mac even when cold!


There's one other I've found in an episode of Agito that has a theater scene, but I have no idea what's playing on the screen. Here's the screenshots I took. If anyone knows what it is I'd like to know. Bet it's a Toei movie that was playing at the time. Looks neat whatever it is.
