Figure I'd split this off from the worst Sentai thread before it got to far off topic.

Here's quotes of the convention so far, starting with me replying to one of Matrixbeast's comments.

Anyway, it is hard to say. I mean, there are a lot of great shows in the 50ish episode mark like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (well 64 eps), Ghost in the Shell SAC, Code Geass, and most Gundam series, but for the most part, the best are definitely in the 26 range. Death Note, Ouban Star Racers, Gankutsuou, Escaflowne, Speed Grapher, Noir, RahXephon, Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Wolf's Rain, etc.

Sorry for dragging this into off-topic territory, as I haven't seen enough Sentai to really have an opinion here, but when someone is this wrong, I have to say something.

@Dr Kain: DBZ is the perfect example of shorter is better. Dragon Ball (Z) Kai exists to re-edit the show as close to the manga as possible through the Cell Saga. That's the first 194 episodes of the original show. In the re-edited Kai they cut it in half to 98 episodes. There's more they could've cut too, but they'd have to reanimate a lot more scenes.

But yeah, 26 episodes is my general rule of thumb with anime. I can enjoy the long ones, but the longer it gets the less I'm likily to finish.

PS In fact you mentioned my all time favorite anime in that little list.



@KRiderZim: Like most Miyazaki films it's a good movie. I'm not that big on anime movies though.
