Chapter 2 part 6: Requiem for a weed

High above the night skies flew the Monsterrors Nightbat and StrikerHawk, with HoverToad and SeaStallion following close by. It hasn't been easy for even these crafts to approach Cyborg Drake as his sonic song is causing mechanical failage. It would be some time before they were fully autorepaired, but that wasn't the main concern right now.

Howling Racer, as it was the only Monsterror that can not fly was evacuating the hostages.Grant was helping out with the boarding but Takato was trying to see this to the very end."LET GO OF ME, FOOL! You have no inkling as to what is going on right now!" he thundered right into Garrenson's ear."Believe me I know more than you'd like to know, smartass. No then up you go with your girlfriends. I'm sure they're glad to be seeing you again"he joked as Takato tried to protest. Before he could get a word in edgewise he was chucked into the Howling Racer."That punk has a good set of pipes on him"Grant mummered as he rubbed his sore ear."But for now we have people to save."He then dialed up the private number than only he and the other Nightmarangers knew and began to lay out the escape plan to Greg."Just go as far back as you can. When you can't go any further unload and direct the people to the underground subway passages. When that's done rendezvous with the others and deal with that stubborn weed.He's giving me a headache like you wouldn't believe!"

"Roger that, mon Capitain!" With that he drove off to get the humans to safety.He just hoped that by the time he got back the others are OK.

But the other weren't OK at all. In fact they were wondering how long before things went to far south to turn around."Figures that Gregory gets the easy jobs. Too much pride to misplaced in the youth of both worlds" Alasdair grumbled."Lay off him, will ya? He has a tough job to do and you know it!"Melia snapped at him."We don't know if and when C.Drake will attack Greg or anyone else and the less time we spend dealing with vineboy the better!" The both of them fired homing missiles at C.Drake in the hopes that he would shut up and stop his sonic attack.While they did hurt him, it didn't make him stop. They just made him angry and unaware that StrikerHawk was just overhead of him. Aiko dialed in HURRICANE CAGE and a strong collem of spinning wind held him firmly in place."Blaise do you copy? I have Drake contained but I know he won't be held for long. If you can drain his power that would be a big help"

Nightmare Red launched the two cables into Cyborg Drake's torso and began to have them absorb his energy. Drake fought on, spraying seeds into the ground below him and the Monsterrors.In seconds jagged trees erupted from the ground, damaging the four vehicles locked in combat with him. Shaking off the cables from the Nightbat, he began to power up a final attack that would surely destroy his enemies. Greg wouldn't have any of that nonsense and soon enough the Howling Racer roared into battle and sideswiped C.Drake off his feet, canceling his attack.

"Greg! I see you're cutting it a little close there huh? Still it's good to know you're here now" Blaise radioed in to Nightmare Blue.

"Glad to be here guys! Sorry about being late to the party. But Takato's stubborn like nothing else. Do you think he knows about us?" he asked Nightmare Red.

"First off you're always late. Second I highly doubt he knows anymore that what the news tells him. With the drama that's going on with Blaise's job the less humans know about our true nature the better"Alasdair scolded to Blue.

Aiko cleared her throat to get the others attention."If you all don't mind we still have a job to do. Something only Nightmare King can finish."

"Well then what are we waitin' for?!? Let's get the big guy out here!"

In a fleeting moment Nightmare King stood before the enraged C.Drake, sword drawn and ready.The robot's first attack was caught by Drake, but quick thinking on Nightmare Green's part got them free as she made the bot kick Drake away with the foot made from her Hovertoad. "Blaise, since this jerkstore ruined your first day on the job do you want to do the honors?"she asked Red."Gladly. He harmed nature and the innocent people of Japan today. He must be brought down"he boldly stated.

As N. King ran around Cyborg Drake Nightmare Red typed in FIREBALLS into his Cloaking Cell. Soon Nightmare King was shooting fireballs at Drake, damaging him and stopping his spore spray counter attacks. Nightmare King then jumped at a building and using magic bounces back up over head of Cyborg Drake and fires off more fireballs at his head When the mighty N. King lands the Nightmarangers draw the Dream Slasher and swung it at Drake's chest. Circuits and wires drooped from the large gash that was now on Drake's torso. As he tried to shove them back in the Nightmarangers saw their chance to finish him off.

"Crimson Downfall! But Cyborg Drake was still ready to fight. Slamming a fist down he made vines pop up to block off the attack."OK he's not as dumb as Octocrush. That's not saying much but what should we do now, o Fearless Leader?" Alasdair sarcastically asked of Blaise.Paying no mind to his friend's tone Red knew that something had to be done. As they tried to dodge Drake's vine whip attacks, with moderate success Blaise tried to find a spell that can get them out of this jam...and surely enough having no luck with it.

Just when things were looking their bleakest Nightmare Red manged to type in FIERY AURA by sheer dumb luck. As the vines wrapped around Nightmare King a flame surrounded the robot, burning away the vines and burning Drake badly."Wow. Now that's pretty darn cool if I don't say so myself. Maybe we can use that spell on the Dream Slasher."Greg wondered aloud."It just may work, but don't get you fingers crossed just yet"Blaise told them with a unsure tone. Re-Typing FIERY AURA and dragging the words over to a picture of the Dream Slasher, he was worried that nothing would happen.

But the sword shone with a bright flame. Now with the power to deal with Cyborg Drake they prepared to deal with him once and for all.

"BLARING CRIMSON DOWNFALL!" Nightmare King did a flaming rolling slash through Drake's vines and directly into Drake himself. As Cyborg Drake drew his last, The Nightmarangers made N. King do a thumbs-up to commemorate their second victory over the forces of OverShadow. Soon C.Drake blew up and cheers from Grant,Nami,Hitomi and Sakoya.

Behind them Takato looked at Nightmare King with a thoughtful expression on his face.'If you are who you say you are, then Earth may just be saved.Nut if you're lying then perpare to meet your doom' he thought in himself.
