Although trains aren't the biggest thing in the States I doubt we'll see ToQGer getting skipped. Ninjas are cool and all, but since we still use trains it might be a way to draw in both PR fans of all ages and people who like trains.

At this point next to nothing's hurting Power Rangers' image. Nostalgia's a thing that both inspires happier memories and bring back times of unpleasantness. Having to suffer MMPR's flaws in both MegaForce and Samurai has proven to me while looking back isn't a bad thing rehashing a show style that's been outclassed for decades has hurt the show more than Red Ressha's front end.

How on earth is imagination a bad thing to have? Isn't part of the point of Power Ranger is to inspire imagination in both kids AND adults? Keep in mind Nick has broadcasting rights to PR and they have SpongeBob, whose "charm" lies in having a vivid imagination. Last time I checked people of all ages love the little yellow freak; even though his best years are well past him at this point.
If anything it would do wonder in bringing adult viewership by adapting ToQGer.
