Fun little trivial stuff I noticed during this episode was that good number of the visual pieces in the Ukiyoe-like backdrop are composed of the names of our heroes:
- The name Takaharu literally means clear sky, and can also be pronounced as appare, which is the Japanese word for splendid, magnificent or good job.
So in this case, I think it is safe to say that a 'splendid' red sun is placed to represent a clear sky.
- Yakumo, when translated literally, translates into eight clouds, but is actually a Japanese word used to describe thick clouds.
- Nagi means calm or lull(of the waters).
Normally people will think "how can yellow be associated with water?"
Well, if you look at his catchphrase "kirameki no nagi" and the image of a sparkling yellow body of water during his nanori or introduction, this is most likely referring to either the color of the calm waters either during sunset/sunrise or the color of the sparkles when the sunlight hits the calm waters on a bright and sunny day. (I like to think of it as the color of the calm waters either during sunset/sunrise considering the end product of the backdrop)
-Kazabana is another way of reading Fuuka, aka Shironinger's name, which is the Japanese word for snow flurry.
-Kasumi is literally mist.
So if you take the above into consideration and look at the backdrop when the Ninningers finish their nanori, You can see a red sun that represents a clear sky, blue thick clouds, calm and sparkling yellow waters, white snowflakes, and pink mists incorporated into the Ukiyoe-like backdrop.
