The rivalry may not be settled in the tournament, but that's the point. It's showing that Lucas is insanely strong. It's setting up for an insane uphill battle for Team Try Fighters.

If Lucas wins, that's going to put a lot of doubt in Team Try Fighter's heads because he will beat all of their rivals by himself. You know Lucas' teammates will go down pretty much right away, so it'll just be him.

He wins, and it puts a huge amount of "What if we can't win?" in their heads. I bet it's how it turns out, which is ok because it still gives a reason for the rivalry to have been started and it still makes Lucas a beast.
