It's nostalgia goggles for sure. I felt the same way about the Heisei series, but when I did my reviews of them last month, I threw off the goggles and looked at them critically from every point of view and they were just awful movies. They shove their environmental messages down our throats relentlessly.

Almost all of the series was in my top 10 Godzilla movies list, and now, Biollante is the only one that remains there.
