For actual painting, GUndam markers actually aren't the best. You're better off investing in some good quality acrylic paint like Tamiya or Testors.

Well the thing is I'm not that great at painting, and since the project only requires a bit (some parts on the knees, torso, and shoulder pads with maybe a rifle or two) I don't know if I want to spend a lot of money when I'm not that great and just starting on models. So even though actual paint would probably be the best option in general, would markers make for a good way to start/practice since I'm not doing anything really huge?
