I agree with you in spirit, but Mach is categorically not the main rider. He gets a quarter of the screen time of Drive, not to mention he gets like, two form changes the whole series.

My main problem with KR Drive is that Gou would have been a way more compelling main character. Shinnosuke is a total dud whose involvement with the show's central villains is completely superficial. Meanwhile, Gou is intrinsically connected to every piece of the plot and every primary character on the show on a deep, emotional level.

Had the writers given as much (or more) screen time to Gou as they did Shin (they didn't, not remotely), the show could have been something special. But they chose to anchor the narrative to Shinnosuke, and despite a few great episodes in the middle, the show sunk.

IMO, KR Drive is a classic exercise in wasted potential.
