Looking forward to TRI coming out, it's clearly a follow up to 2 in that you see the four digidestined introduced in 2 fall in that intro, it's not like Dragonball GT where the original creator had no input into the show's creation. 2 will still be cannon, it's just that the characters from 2 probably need rescuing.

Regarding 2 I agree that some parts of it were disappointing but there were parts i really liked, such as the possession of Agumon and the Dark War Greymon stuff. It really did make it feel like the newer kids had their work cut out for them.
