I actually do agree with you more in terms of that a new Digimon series should strive for a more original storyline than the previous series, but we definitely need to return to regular evolutions either way

People advocating that we should have partners with up to 3 Digimons max......I don't agree with you at all. This ain't Pokemon people, they are "partners" not "trainers".........you only need to "partner up" with 1.

And I'd agree with you on the last point, if it wasn't for the fact that the games for Digimon are perfectly fine with giving you typically a max of 3 partners (in battle, anyway) at a time. This isn't some random mad thing I'm asking, just for them to implement something they've already done in the anime.

I just thought it would be interesting to see them make that longstanding part of Digimon somehow work in a show. Pokemon is about ditching your Pokemon for the next best thing. Digimon can still have a close partner relationship, just not limited to a 1-on-1.

I'm all for the original evolution levels, since they give you a working idea on how fucked the protagonists are going into a fight, so on that I agree. But when they aren't called Chosen Children/Digidestined, the characters are called Tamers, so it isn't ripping off Pokemon to have the characters depicted as running a small trio.
