Well, some people have trouble committing. Gai started off hating the team, but eventually grew to like it. However, it makes sense that sometimes he would snap back to his original hatred of the team. There are things i've been a part of that I waver back and forth between enjoying and hating. I don't see his inconsistent feelings towards the rest of the team as a flaw, but rather, something very believable.
