Well, a few weeks ago I saw an episode where Jet Icarus gets its arms ripped off. If I had seen that happen as a kid it would've given me nightmares. Plus, dimension beasts often just straight-up murder people where in modern sentai you mostly see monsters perform only large-scale destruction and it seems less personal. I guess it's a combination of the Vyram being particularly threatening villains and their actions seeming unusually twisted.
