UltraMan Episode 31: This was an intriguing episode overall. The Keronia concept was brilliant and interesting about a plant that can disguise itself as human. I knew something wasn't right with the Gotoh guy who has been a member for 20 years. Though Hayata I really enjoyed with this episode with both being optimistic in actually believing the guy instead of being suspicious. I also enjoyed his knowledge too about knowing about the insectivorous plants. Though The Keronia had a very creepy look for a plant monster. I loved UltraMan's new green ring blast that defeated it when the Specium Ray didn't work. The battle was fun and I enjoyed the dog fight part of it too when the VTOL took on the other Plant-Men ships and UltraMan came in too. Getting close to the end and I am enjoying it a lot, can't wait for more.
UltraMan Episode 32: Pati was a freaking delight, I wish she was a part of the Science Patrol Team the whole time. She was just the right amount of taking her job seriously even on vacation and fun with her jokes too. I liked that Hayata tricked the others into taking Pati out around town on Vacation that was great that he'd pull something like that. I liked Pati and Hayata together a lot that was good and fun. The monster I felt bad for because it seems like it was just disturbed but it caused a lot of forest fires. Damn UltraMan was brutal this episode a lot of head smashing, throws, and blasting to make sure it was defeated. Fun episode and I can't wait for more.
UltraMan Episode 33: This was another one of their great episodes of the show. Mephilas was such an interesting villain with his pacifist ways and wanting someone to give him the Earth. I enjoyed Satoru, Fuji's Brother, that he stood for the Earth and there was nothing on another planet that would give him happiness. That must have been fun for Fuji's actress to get to be the one destroying the city. Hayata really had a great episode with laughing at Mephilas not being successful and that he was one who stops aliens from breaking laws. That he showed who is he and what he stands for is what I loved a lot. Also that he talked as UltraMan was great too. I loved that the fight was basically a stand off and that Mephilas understood that he lost and left peacefully was really intriguing. He was an awesome villain in that way, I was really impressed by him I can't wait for more of these final episodes.
UltraMan Episode 34: This absolutely has to be the most hilarious episode of UltraMan. This was just a kooky mess of plans that just didn't work because Skydon was too heavy. Though I can't not mention the beginning where Hayata gives the Captain his umbrella by dropping it from the sky from the VTOL lol that was hilarious, though the scene afterwards about the guy committing suicide was kind of really dark and out of nowhere there. Anyways yeah the Science Patrol had a lot of fun plans there and I am not even sure if they would scientifically work; though it was a lot of fun to see them try. The fight scene even was comedic when UltraMan ended up getting crushed because Skydon was too heavy to lift even for him. Though later I totally accept the two of them crashing into each other as Skydon is falling ends up destroying him. Also Hayata trying to transform with his spoon was just so funny, this episode took every chance they could to make a joke and it was hysterical. A very fun and kooky episode for the Science Patrol and UltraMan. Only 5 episodes left can't wait!
UltraMan Episode 35: From the funniest episode to the saddest. Seabozu I just felt so much sympathy for it because he just wanted to go back to his friends and be in peace in the monster graveyard. This episode was brilliant in playing up how sad the monster was and how much regret Hayata had for the monsters he had fought and left in Ultra Space. I really enjoyed how much that showed of Hayata's character that it still bothers him that he can't just let leave these monsters be and have world peace too. Also Akiko was pretty on the ball here with figuring out Seabozu just wanted to go back to space. I like when the Science Patrol is used well and I think Akiko and Hayata were both stand outs this episode which doesn't happen as much as you'd think lately. Hayata did everything for this monster and really wanted to see it happy and I enjoyed that a lot. This was a brilliant episode and I can't wait for the final 4.
UltraMan Episode 36: They just saved all the good episodes for the end I guess lol. This was fantastic for Hayata, Arashi, and Ide. Mostly Arashi with his determination and wanting to defeat this monster and make up for his mistakes I enjoyed a lot. Also seeing Ide make a new blaster to help defeat monsters was good too, I'm glad that they show that he has been working on stuff for years to help defeat these monsters. I like that it shows that he is diligent and wants to help keep the world safe. I loved Hayata and Arashi's team work getting the kids out and distracting the monster. Also that Hayata's camaraderie made him come running even blinded from the hospital bed to go out and make sure his friend was safe. UltraMan fighting blind was something else and kind of weird with the lights not on in his eyes though his blind site looked better than mine without my glasses on lol. Still I'm glad that Arashi ended up making up for mistakes and helped UltraMan defeat Zaragas. Though I will say it was a bit weird for the Global Defense Committee to get all up in arms about attacking this monster making it more violent because some of the others did the same or they actually learned from the earlier monsters and actually wanted to save the city from collateral damage, so not really that weird at all in that perspective. Well 3 episodes left I both can't wait for them and going to be sad when I finish this series.
UltraMan Episode 37: This was another amazing episode! Literally saving all the best for last here. Poor Pigmon...*Cries* he went out helping the Science Patrol, I felt so bad for him because he didn't deserve to swatted like a fly. Anyways moving on to other parts I loved Ide and Hayata this episode because of Ide's depression that UltraMan has been saving the day and his weapons haven't done anything. It's realistic I mean even I sometimes have felt the same way watching it. Though this was great learning more about how Hayata operates as UltraMan because he doesn't take the Science Patrol for granted and he remembers all the times he was saved by them. Also that he doesn't transform unless things are going south for them makes me find him more likable and interesting. I also enjoyed him helping snap Ide out of his depression was great and Ide's new weapon was impressive. I also loved the combination between Ide and UltraMan taking one of the two monsters together. It was a great comrade episode just like the last one with Arashi and Hayata now with Ide and Hayata. We needed more episodes like this with character relationship building before but still better late than never.
UltraMan Episode 38: A very nice Star Trek-ish episode of UltraMan. I am glad the Science Patrol got to go to another planet it just seems like something they'd do. This was good to see the team dealing with the monsters and environment of Planet Q and the crazy things they had to do to survive. Especially Toshio and Ide's oxygen tank jet pack to cross a valley to get back to the ship after they got the part they needed, this actually sounds more like a video game mission. I found it hilarious that Arashi got blinded this episode when he didn't the against the other monster earlier, it's like this is what you missed lol. Captain Toshio is just insane at times definitely with his crazy plans or weird rules lol. Hayata was good with coming up a plan when they were stuck and helping stay with Arashi. Though UltraMan continues to pull new things out of his arsenal when the Energy Disc and the Specium Ray both didn't work he pulls out his magical telekinesis to lift the monster with his mind and throw it away making it explode...I don't know where this came from but damn UltraMan has the most random move set ever. I'm just going to accept that Hayata just figured out this move here out of desperation instead of believing he could do it before, sometimes I just love random Toku ridiculousness. One episode left I'm not sure I'm ready for it but I can't wait.
UltraMan Episode 39 (FINAL): Wow just wow, this was one hell of a finale. This felt like the movie Independence Day during parts. The UFO vs VTOL battle was awesome, it's great to see that Earth technology can stand up to Alien technology at times not that we are so far behind them that our weapons do nothing. This was definitely a win for the Science Patrol this episode. The threat was definitely intense I was really worried for everyone this episode. Man Zetton was a beast and I can't believe what happened in the final fight that UltraMan lost and nearly died and that Arashi and Ide defeated Zetton with the new weapon, that's just crazy there, it just blows my mind that the Science Patrol beat the final monster and not UltraMan. Zoffy was interesting, it's good to finally meet the character. Also good to hear more from UltraMan too and how he was willing to sacrifice his own life because he's lived a long time and wanted Hayata to have his life, extremely noble of UltraMan. Zoffy, was much better than I expected him to be, he wanted to help bring UltraMan home and was inspired by his love of Earthlings that he helped both UltraMan and Hayata out which was fantastic. I feel really bad for Hayata because it seems like he lost the memories he had of UltraMan. Which now brings me to the theory of was Hayata actually comatose or dead for all that time after he met with the Red Sphere and UltraMan was basically living as Hayata during that time? Brings lots of interesting question about this series with that, makes me want to re-watch it. I'll post my feelings on the entire series soon but it was a whole lot of fun and I definitely see why this started a whole franchise. I can't wait for more of the UltraSeries!
