I've not seen the original series, but from what I gather it's more "inspired by" than anything else, a sort-of hard reboot like The First and The Next were to the first rider series (although way better if what I've heard about those films is true )
I'm guessing this will mean official subs though which is pretty rad- might act as a good gateway for getting people into the franchise, though I wonder whether some people new to toku might be disappointed moving from an edgier, grittier series like Amazonz to one of the mainstream shows
