I think I've finally pinned down my main complaints with Ghost.....whatever plot happens to be the focal piece of the episode isn't
nearly
as interesting as the side plots.
The whole idol plot was so predictable because we've seen something similar about a thousand times before in Kamen Rider: group rejects person, group learns the "value of friendship", person is accepted back into the group. There's nothing really new or exciting there. Hell, at this point, Ghost has been running with so many Rider cliches while doing absolutely nothing new that I wouldn't be surprised if this plot happened earlier in the series in a different context.
The whole time, I wanted them to go back to the Necrom or Specter subplots because those are about a thousand times more interesting. Why is really important story-related stuff being pushed aside for typical MotW fare this late into the game?
And I thought I was the only one that noticed Sanzo just randomly appearing in two different spots at once. And I'm also glad that I'm not the only one bothered by the fact that Javel just appears out of nowhere to give Alain somebody to fight after not appearing for close to 10 episodes.
I mean, I know that Kamen Rider has a fair bit of plot convenience across every season, but in Ghost it gets insufferably bad to the point where I can't even begin to suspend my disbelief. I don't outright hate the show like most people do, but it feels so lazily written.
