Meanwhile, X and Stronger have less than forty episodes each and Amazon doesn't even crack twenty-five.
Honestly, for me the real challenge of watching Showa era Rider isn't the length, it's the more episodic nature. Very few of these shows have much in the way of long-running plot arcs, which can make it harder to build up the momentum to sit through several episodes in a row. I marathoned the hell out of Agito when I first watched it, but I don't think I've ever seen more than two episodes of a Showa series in one sitting.
That said, a lot of those done-in-ones from the Showa era are really great and fun. If you want to try taking a whack at the Showa era I'd definitely recommend Black. It's fully subbed and it has a little bit of an ongoing story arc, although it doesn't do a great job of pacing it well. It has a great star, though, some excellent action scenes, and a killer soundtrack.
When I was talking about the number of episodes I was referring more to the fact that most showa series have only been partially subbed. And at the rate new episodes get released I'd be waiting for some time to watch a significant chunk of anything.
