If we had a Jojo anime in the 80's, they would have likely censorship down the violence similar what Fist of the North Star did. We also did a 1993-2000 OVA series of Part 3 which only cover like the first part of Stardust Crusaders from what I can remember.

Seeing that you are enjoying Jojo, I suggest to check out Baoh seeing they are both are created by Hirohiko Araki. Hirohiko Araki created Baoh a few years before Jojo (Manga in 1984 and anime in 1989). Baoh also has a somewhat Toku feel to it in my opinion seeing that the main protagonist that is kidnapped by an evil organization to turn them into the ultimate weapon and escapes just before their final brainwashing before able to transform into a powerful monster. It's also a short OVA being around 50 minutes.
