That's my Kyoryuger bias kicking in though. This episode just doesn't compare to its supposed Sentai counterpart.

To give you an idea (if you haven't seen Kyoryuger...) ... using their US names for relevance:

This monster, along with others, have replaced Wrench, Poisandra, Curio, etc. This monster also decides to destroy the Rangers and the monsters. But Wrench decides to save Poisandra as he loves her. He's easily defeated and destroyed by the monster.

The Black Ranger, who despised Wrench for his involvement in the death of his friend, chooses to recognize that Wrench had changed, uses Wrench's axe, and destroys the monster. Cue epic "walk away from explosion" moment for the Rangers.
