Yeah. Unless a movie TF has a Cybertronian alt mode, you can usually tell "oh yeah, that supposed to turn into something." Hell, AOE Grimlock at least had the T-rex heads on his shoulders.

In that case 'new spin' might be more accurate, but even then, it IS taking things from the original! The characters, power coins, Rita, Zords in general, hell, I wouldn't be surprised if there were lots of references in the full movie. New take, to me, my friends and a different forum, means you're taking the original, and changing it up a bit to change it into something the average consumer likes
