Honestly I was super unenthused when we first saw pictures back before Ninninger aired but I've hugely come around to it since. The portrayal in the show helped a lot.

I don't know what Ninja Steel will be like but Ninninger was a really quirky, out there kind of show, and five totally unrelated things combining into a giant robot piloted by a smaller giant robot in its stomach communicates that perfectly.

Shurikenjin isn't exactly what I would call "cool", but it's interesting and it's unique, and that wins it some points. I'd totally love to get a new Sentai robot that's a bit more traditional looking myself, but taken for what it is I think Shurikenjin clearly had some real effort put into its design.

Note that what I just said is a different matter from it actually looking any good. That's entirely in the eye of the beholder, and I can totally empathize with people who can't dig what Shurikenjin is bringing to the table. This version isn't exactly doing its looks any favors, either.
