[Switchblade]

This one kind of slipped up on me. I knew it was coming this year and I'd even heard it was going to be airing this week, but I'd completely forgotten about it when the sub popped up at Over-Time. I was a little disappointed when this didn't air immediately after Makai Retsuden, but if the first episode is any indication it was totally worth the wait.

There's a certain tone and atmosphere I associate with the best of Garo. It's something that usually means that Keita Amemiya is directly involved with the series and it's something that I honestly haven't felt since Makai no Hana. Dragon Blood has it: this feels like old school Garo. The mood and atmosphere are there, the amazing action scenes are there, and the cool and badass hero is there. I like the Ryuga shows, but if I'm being honest, this is the kind of show that I like best out of Garo. I went into this with some apprehension after how Zero's last miniseries ended up, but if this episode is any indication we are in for a treat.
