You know it seems like half your problem here is that you just really hate a lot of the underlying tropes at play here, in which case, I can't argue.

I hear the narrator talk about these legendary magic balls that give people the power to save the universe from evil and I'm like "Awesome!". I see a giant robot fight in the last three minutes and I'm like "Yup, that's Sentai for ya'!". I see the show explicitly about 9 dudes assemble all nine dudes early on and I'm like "Yay, this is what I signed up for!". Nothing about any of that bothers me.

If you wish the show was fundamentally written a different way, that's fine. I totally agree there's a lot of good narrative potential in your suggestions (I'd love to see an evil Kyuranger), but I'm totally alright with what the show is doing instead. If you aren't, then I hope you have fun with whatever you spend the extra 22 minutes a week doing if you decide to drop the show.
