That said, this has only been discovered now that people have seen the film, and wasn't part of the promotional material at all (though it does explain why the yellow ranger of all people gets a lot of the spotlight when it's usually just red) so it's not like the movie production was hyping this up as a selling point. In fact, were it not for these early reviews, this would've only been "discovered" once the movie was out.

Have they? LGBT is more accepted and flaunted than ever. They have proper representation in everything these days.

Does it? I've related to plenty of characters who have a different race, gender or sexual preference than me. I feel like the more the media reaffirms that only people of the same categories can relate to people of the same categories, the more we stay divided.

And, to clarify, I'm fine with Trini being gay. This is in regards to the media flaunting it as some grand achievement.

Considering Gravity Falls wasn't allowed a gay character and people still go 'WEEEEEEH STOP PUSHING GAY PEOPLE DOWN MY THROAT!' and shit, yes

It was still fucking horrible for the guy, and the movie has already avoided making the black guy the black ranger and the Asian chick the yellow ranger
