I'm not sure I can make it more idiot speak. Legitimately, mostly because I'm trying to explain a stupid attitude to begin with.

Basically, the idea is that if you're making money off of it, it can't be called "real" art, and if you did make money off of anything, you were a sellout.

It's stupid, but people as a whole believe all kinds of things with no basis in reality all the time. I could go down my personal gripe list, but unlike some around here I actually respect the no politics/religion rule... mostly because I'm not on the "right" side, if you will...

Moving on, the attitude has mostly gone extinct, especially with stuff like Patreon and the like making it easier than ever to monetize creative endeavors.
