If I didn't like the adaption, I can't see myself liking the source material any better. It's like when people tell me to read the book of The Hunger Games because I didn't like the first movie.

My biggest issue with Tokyo Ghoul is that I find the story and characters not interesting. I'm so sick of the "Main character starts off as a wimpy shy human and slowly becomes some type of badass later on". This trope has been done to death that I'm bored of it. Not to mention I also find the animation to be lack luster at times from looking "That was very nicely animated" to "Wow they must have run low on money fast".

The series wants to introduce some deep philosophy behind humans oppressing ghouls but the ghouls literally only survive by eating humans and are complete sociopaths with no regard for human life. Too bad none of it was done very well in my opinion. I may sound harsh on the show, but I really did not like it at all. I guess the hype of the show really hurt it for me.
