Well it depends on what you want. The nice thing is that Omnibuses are becoming popular, so it is getting easier to read older stuff as much as it is newer stuff. And because of the Omnibuses, DC is also putting those reprints out in smaller collections.

I recommend:

New Teen Titans
Batman Illustrated by Neal Adams
Flash Silver Age and by Geoff Johns
Green Lantern by Geoff Johns (the best GL run since the 80s and the best overall)
Swamp Thing Original and the Alan Moore run
Hellblazer
