[Switchblade]

Really wasn't sure what to think going into this one. I hadn't really kept up with any of the pre-release information about the premise or the characters, so I was more or less going in blind. Have to say that I'm quite pleased with what I just watched.

The tone definitely feels very early-Heisei to me; like something around the Ryuki/Faiz era. I love most of the pre-Den-O era, so this works a lot for me. We've got a good start with the core cast and the setting, but both will obviously be developed more as we go along. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes.

I'm also enjoying the action scenes. Build's weapons still look hella fake and plastic-y, but we got an actual motorcycle action scene. Yes, half of it was just CGI, but I can't remember the last time we got a bike scene that wasn't just racing or part of some elaborate CGI finisher. I really hope this stays as part of the show. The suit and its abilities look really promising, too.

So yeah, all in all I enjoyed this a lot and look forward to seeing where it goes.
