Well, apart from the second paragraph you pretty much described my experience working there, though I was let go without notice the second the clock struck 00:00 on December 26 (was a seasonal hire), so I didn't have to worry about my hours being cut after the holidays.

I have no idea if the inside picture improved at that store in the now six years since I worked there, but the holiday season I was there, my managers made sure I knew I was expendable. Up to and including calling to find out whether or not I'd show up for my shift, while I was at my grandfather's funeral. Which I told them about two days in advance.
