No one is crusading any of it's qualities beyond being successful enough to spawn the franchise. The story is non-existent, the characters are paper thin goody goods, the acting is mediocre at best, and the splicing of footage is awful, and pretty much any toku or PR fan will agree.
And Megaforce's biggest downfall was precisely that. It wanted to be MMPR so much that it emulated shit that we only let slide in the 90's because we were too hopped up on sugar to notice (And it was a different era with little to no access to the web).
Plus, we have In Space, Time Force, SPD and RPM. We can do good stories with engaging characters and still work it around the required Sentai footage, past seasons show that. But Megaforce?
There's nothing, you get a Power Rangers franchise summary, all the tropes people might be familiar with, boiled down to a formula. 5 color coordinated teens, Japanese stock footage, giant robots, campy villains that grow one monster into a giant every week for the rangers to kill with their giant robot, teamwork lesson yada yada.
And it's not a good anniversary season. It pays token regard to past teams, not even really explaining what that team was about. The advertising built up respect for 20 years, but the show didn't do anything. At all.
