Childish was probably the wrong word to describe how he acted normally but Jiraiya had a much wider ranged, is that the right term for that?, personality when compared to the other members of the team. Some episodes, he could be just as serious as Tsurihime was. Others, he got into the same silly shenanigans that Saizo and Seikai did. It really depended on the episode.

When ever I think of Jiraiya though, two different episodes immediately come to mind. The serious episode when he was forced to battle the main who raised him... and the episode where he became so interested in a Samurai TV Show that he started emulating what he was seeing on TV.

Jiraiya had awesome focus episodes.
